How we verify deals
Every deal on Big Discount Drops is checked against Walmart's own product page before it goes live. Here is exactly what that means — and, just as importantly, what we don't claim.
1. The price comes from Walmart's own product page
Before a deal is published, we open Walmart's own product page and read the current price straight off it. The number on the card is that number — not an estimate, not a cached figure from a feed.
2. Every price shows when we checked it
Each deal card and deal page shows the date we read the price on Walmart.com, plus the Walmart item number so you can look the item up yourself. A deal that hasn't been re-confirmed within a week is taken off the site automatically, so an old price never sits there looking current.
3. The "was" price is Walmart's own
The struck-through price is the "was" price Walmart shows on the product page — never a manufacturer list price (MSRP) looked up elsewhere to make a discount look bigger. Walmart's page doesn't show the history behind that figure, so we treat the percentage as a comparison with Walmart's reference, not a guarantee of a record low. If the current price isn't below it, the deal never goes up.
4. Walmart's tag, copied exactly
If Walmart's page tags the price as Rollback, Clearance or Reduced price, we show that tag. If it shows no tag, neither do we — we never call something clearance that Walmart doesn't.
5. We check stock at the same time
A price is only useful if you can actually buy the item, so the person confirms it is in stock when they verify the price. Stock can still change at Walmart afterwards — always confirm on Walmart's page before buying.
6. Deals expire on their own
Every time-limited deal carries a real end time. When it passes, the deal removes itself from the site automatically — so you don't scroll past a sale that ended weeks ago.
7. If we can't verify something, we leave it out
No invented ratings, no fake stock counts, no made-up review quotes. When a piece of information can't be confirmed, we omit it rather than guess.
We add deals as we find and check them, and each one stays up for at most a week after its last price check. Because retailers control their prices and stock, both can change after we check — the date on each card tells you how recent our check was. See our Disclosure for how the site is funded.
